I was in Freddy's a while back and made an impulse buy....the new mini Cricut Easter cartridge. i just loved the images....I especially bought it for the fun circles (one of which I used in my second card below). Both of these cards are based on Janelle's sketch #99 for Sketch This! Such a fun sketch...I had to use it two ways.

...I really didn't make myself a card ;) I made this one for a dear friend of mine whose Birthday was Wednesday. It's kind of funny, the connection we have with people that have our name, isn't it? There is something special (at least to me) about sharing a name with someone....maybe it would be different if there were more people with my name, but I have only known a handful of Katie's in my life.

I saw the CPS sketch last night and decided to make a card. What I was planning on making and what I actually ended up with were two completely different cards altogether. I was originally going to make a heart card, but as you can see, I switched gears and ended up making another Summery card :) Maybe I will decide to make a heart card too with this sketch...we'll see.

There is just something special about valentine's day.... It's the one holiday that makes me wish I was in 2nd grade again! Wow! It's been for-ever! I can't believe how much I have been slacking when it comes to card making. I didn't do much over the holidays at all....as far as crafting, that is. I hope you all had wonderful holidays! I know I did...and my scale proves it ;) Seriously, though, I am getting back into the swing of things (including my regular workout schedule...haha) and it feels good! :)

Well, I decided I had to make a card yesterday so I decided to play along with the CPS sketch for this week. I used my brand new Hello Kitty Cricut cart. (I LOVE it) and this is what I came up with:

I was out of town for a few days this past weekend....our family has a little reunion every year with my parents, my brother, his best friend, my best friend and me....plus all of our families, of course!! Even though we don't really get into Halloween at our house, I couldn't resist these adorable monster papers/stamps from Daisy Bucket Designs! They are so fun and, yes, cute :) The same My Little Monsters from a previous DBD release, have shown up again...this time in costume! Love it! Whew! This week flew right by! We had our best friends in town for a visit and we had such a great time....they left a couple of hours ago and I miss them already :( I didn't get much done while they were here....so I am catching up a bit now. Here is my take on Janelle's sketch from Sketch This!

Sketch This #89!

We took a little break over at Sketch This, but as of this week, we are back and here is Janelle's newest sketch:

I always love working with Janelle's sketches! I love the whole process of thinking how I will make the sketch my own, which supplies will work best and so on. Then, the best part is to see what the other designers come up with for the very same sketch. Love that part!

I can't believe the countdown to the end of the Summer is on. It has really flown by! In some ways I'm ready for Fall....it's my favorite season! I'm so ready to smell the spicy smells of Pumpkin cookies, spiced cider and apple candles! But I will miss having all three of my kids home with me....I just love that.

I am super excited about Shabby Green Door~a brand new division of Daisy Bucket Designs. Their first collection is called Farmers Market and it is completely scrumptious! I am so happy that I was able to make these cards for my friends Cassandra and Kristi...

For these cards I used the Shabby Green Door stamps, papers, cardstock stickers and even some of their fun twine.

I don't know about you but I want to make a pie now ;) Or at the very least go visit the Farmer's Market for some yummy cherries!

I made these two cards recently based on sketches from CardPatterns. I love CP! Always fun sketches and the DT is awesome!

This first card is a retirement card :) What else is there to do when you're retired except go fishing? Um, gross. I love fish, but I do not want to do my own fishing, that's for sure!! Even though this sketch was from a couple of weeks ago, I still wanted to play with it since it was Kristen's sketch :)

It's been a while since I've posted anything on here so I thought I would share this card with you today...

This is one that I made back in November when I was on the 2S4Y DT. Scrap Street magazine did a feature about 2S4Y in their December issue and Kazan, Laura and all of us DT girls made cards for the article. This card reminds me of right now. Sunny, warm, happy.

Whew! It's been a crazy 10 days for us! Camping then home again with an extra kiddo for the week (my neice) then another weekend away from home for a family reunion and fun! I'm so tired. We had such a quiet car ride home today as all my kids were asleep and I kept drifting off too... This next week will be quieter for us. But the BIG project will be potty training!! Woo hoo! SO ready to be done with diapers!! Hopefully next week at this time she will be in her big girl panties permanently! :)

Yesterday I was in a creative mood and whipped out a few cards and even a Birthday project. The Birthday present that I put together is for a good friend of mine who is also going to be my son's 2nd grade teacher next year!! I am so excited for him to be in her class! She is such a great teacher and it is going to be a fabulous year.

After I was done with her Birthday surprise I decided to make a couple of cards....this first one also happens to be for the same friend...although, she will have to wait a while for this one ;)

Supplies: American Crafts CS and rub ons, Autumn Leaves Chipboard, Dept 56 ribbon (the large ribbon), small stripe ribbon is unknown and the jingle bell is from the craft store.

another teacher card...this one is based on Kazan's sketch that the top 30 finalists will follow this week over at the 2S4Y ultimate card showdown. I fell in love with the sketch and wanted to use it too :)

Okay, here is the Birthday gift I put together....

All the makings for italian sodas...strawberry syrup, club soda, some half and half and even a can of whipped cream. Hope she likes it!

Camping on my mind...

In a week and a half we are going camping to our favorite camp ground and I'm so excited!! Can't wait to roast some s'mores, take bike rides and play by the ocean :) Ahhh. So, what's your favorite food to eat outdoors? I always take cookies, of course, as well as tons of other snack foods but I am also looking for some fun new ideas for our actual meals. Have any great suggestions for me?

That song has been running through my head all afternoon :) My son's first grade class just had their end of the year luau....so adorable!! It's such a busy time right now with all of the end of school activities...I must admit I haven't taken much time lately to make any cards. But I did make one this afternoon!

First, however, I wanted to say thanks to Cath for the honorable mention on her Moxie Fab World blog!! That was so sweet and unexpected :) I just love making cards and it always feels so good when other people like what I do!

Sketch This #86~Tribute to my brother and my Dad!

I adore these new 'boy' papers from Cosmo Cricket!! I made two cards this week following sketch 86:

This one I sent to my brother for his Birthday...he loves cars. In fact, one of his hobbies is rendering concept car models....not sure if I stated that exactly right.... You can check out his work here if you are interested. I am well aware that I may be a bit biased, but He ROCKS!!

and I made this one for my Dad for Father's Day...shhhh! He loves planes...he is a pilot and his favorite hobby has always been 'poking holes in clouds'. :) Anyway, everything about that image and even the 'howdy' sentiment completely reminds me of my awesome Daddy!! So fun.

It was my Birthday recently and my awesome hubby (and kids) got me a cricut!! I am so excited and a little overwhelmed with all of the possibilities. It is so fun, though, I love it!! So, here is my first card using the Don Juan cartridge...I created the window card base with the cricut:

One month later...

I can't believe it's been almost a month since I've posted anything! SO busy this time of year!! If anyone is still checking on me, thanks! We've had Birthdays, T-ball, and most recently a fun event for my daughter...her first "ball" (pictures are down at the end of this post). Our family is so excited that there is exactly one week left of tax season! yay :) I am so glad that next week at this time we will be celebrating and I'll get my hubby back!

Every year we watch the NCAA Championship tournament at our house...it's so fun to fill out the bracket, watch the inevitable upsets and of course the "One Shining Moment" as the Champions win! One card, two challenges...

There are so many fun card challenge sites and I've been wanting to try them out! So, today, I have a card to share that is based on a sketch from Card Patterns.....

and it also fits in perfectly with the challenge on Rae's Use It! blog. The challenge was to use:

Scraps: all of the papers I used (except the white cardstock) were scraps

Punches or die cuts: corner rounder punch

Two or more ribbons: ribbon and hemp twine

An embellishment that I love but haven't used in a while: sewing.

It's Spring Break!

We are so excited that both sets of Grandparents will be coming to visit us this week! Yay!! My In-laws will be here this evening and later in the week it will be my parents' turn.

Normally I share things that I have made here, but I have an exception today....

My BFF made me this adorable memo board and I wanted to post a picture of it. It is just so cute and I love the way it helps me clear some of my favorite pictures off of my fridge. Thanks, Rebecca :)

Next, I have a couple of cards that were inspired by Heidi's sketch for Caardvarks.

This first one looks very much like the sketch.

And this next one is kind of a vague take on the sketch, but I had the papers out and just had to make another ;)

For the past couple of weeks I guess I've been taking a break from creating. And, you know, it was soo nice! But it's also nice to feel a renewed desire to create and so that's what I've been doing...not too much, just enough to make me happy :)

Last week, just when I was going to post a picture of my Sketch This card, my computer "broke". Thankfully our friend was able to fix it but I had to live without my computer for a few days! Actually, it was kind of nice, though. My computer can just suck the hours away from me!

Here are a couple of flowery cards I have made recently...I am really looking forward to the green and flowers that the Spring will bring! Not to mention the warm :) Ahh.

This card started off based on last week's CPS sketch. However, it sort of evolved into something different. It was a great sketch though, I loved it!

Next, is my card for Sketch This! I struggled at first with what my interpretation of the sketch was going to be. I had a completely different card which I put together, took apart and then put together again. Eventually I scrapped the whole thing! Haven't done that in a while. Anyway, then I came up with this:

Hi there...I hope you are having a good week so far. I was up all night with my baby girl. Poor thing was so sick. I hope she'll be feeling better when she wakes up from her nap this afternoon...and that she won't get sick again. Yuck.

Well, here is a cheery little card I made for Melissa Phillip's a girl and her bag challenge....I didn't get around to making it until after the time was up, but I still wanted to play along! It was a fun challenge and Melissa's blog/work is always so inspiring for me.

My husband works long hours this time of year (he's a CPA) so usually I am a busy little card maker but I haven't made anything in the last few days! Monsters and a tag.

Happy Weekend! I haven't been the best blogger lately but my friend Kazan tagged me recently so I decided to play along....more on that further down in the post. But first, I want to share a couple of projects that I made for the Daisy Bucket Designs CHA booth....first, these cards are made with the new My Little Monsters line.

This next project is another one for Daisy Bucket Designs. I made this using one of their new small chipboard banners and the scrumptious papers from the Loves Me, Loves Me Not line. For more info on the new chipboard, check out the DBD blog.

Okay, and for the tag game, here were the rules:

1. Go to your Picture Folder on your computer or wherever you store your pictures.
2. Pick the 6th Folder, then select the the 6th picture in that folder.
3. Post that picture on your blog and the story that goes along with the picture.
4. Tag 6 other people that you know or don’t know to do the same thing and leave a comment on their blog or an e-mail letting them know you chose them.

Here's my picture. Wow. NOT the greatest (I am not a photographer) but it sure does make my heart glad :) On this day, which happened to be the Fourth of July, 2007, we went to the pool. I took this quick picture of my kids right before we left. Oh man, looking at my little bear (Claire) makes me realize (again) how quickly time goes by! Just for reference here is a recent picture of my baby:

This was at the beach last weekend. Of course my boys are much bigger now too, but there is something weird about watching your baby turn into...well, not a baby!

Scor It card

Well, isn't this a fun new product?! I received this sheet of cardstock from Laura and Kazan to make my card for the 2 Sketches 4 You blog. It is designed by Teresa Collins for Scor It. All included on one piece of 12x12 paper is a card, an envelope and even an extra little strip of patterned paper (that I incorporated into the inside of my card).

I whipped out my scor it, and following Kazan's sketch....

.....this is what I came up with.

One anniversary card finished....inside and out.

Supplies: Scor It card template, American Crafts chipboard, thickers and cardstock, Dept 56 ribbon.

New love :)

This morning it is back to reality and our routine. Yep, school is back in session. Even though it is a little hard for me to watch my little man go back, he really does love school and I hope that lasts for a loong time :) We had such a nice Christmas break...I hope you were all able to enjoy the holidays too. There is something amazing about the Christmas spirit, isn't there? I have always loved to see it in people's eyes....to know they are feeling loved and they want to share that feeling too.

Are you ready?!

Well, ready or not...tomorrow is the big day!! We will definitely be having a white Christmas this year!! It is so fun to have all of the snow but I am a little sad that my parents won't be able to make it. They live three hours away and with all of the snow it would've been nearly impossible to get here. :( But other than that disappointment, our house is buzzing with excitement!

This week over at 2S4Y, in honor of Kazan's Hawaiian vacation, we all made HOT SUMMER cards! It was fun to make something warm and summery. Doesn't Hawaii sound awesome right now? Ahhh, to be on a white sandy beach in the sun! Guess I'll just have to be content with the white stuff we have outside ;)

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas!

We had our first snow fall this weekend...beautiful and so festive! My kids had a fun time playing with Daddy...I stayed inside where it was warm because I am trying to fight off a bug.

There is just something so cute about bundled kids, isn't there? I love how squishy they look :)

Yay!! It's Monday........time for another fabulous 2S4Y sketch from Laura!!

Here is my take. I used all new Daisy Bucket Designs patterned papers (Merry Wishes line) and stamps.

Gate fold card tutorial

What an awesome sponsor we have this week at 2S4Y!! All of us on the DT recieved this.....

...the mini scor it!! I love it! It scores perfectly and it makes folding even the most temperamental papers easy!! I have already used it a lot and want to say a huge THANKS to Scor it for their generous sponsorship!!

Here is the sketch from the fabulous Kazan for this week. I made a gate fold card for this sketch using my new scor it (of course!!)....here is a little tutorial.

I began by cutting a piece of patterned paper into a 5x10 inch rectangle for my card which will be 5x5 when finished.

Next I scored the paper (the outside of the card facing down) at 2 1/2 inches from each side.

Here is an up-close shot so you can see the little ridge that the scoring tool makes.

Folding against the ridge, I folded both sides inward.

For the next step, I cut two pieces of cardstock. One will go on the outside of my card and one will go inside.

I rounded the corners on both pieces,

and then I painted the edges of all of the pieces of paper, including my card base.

On the smaller piece that I cut out, I wanted to mark the center so I gently scored it at the top, in the middle and at the bottom. This made it super easy to see where I should center my ribbon when I tied it in place!

Now that Thanksgiving is behind us, let the Christmas season begin!! I just love Christmas time! We are super busy right now....every night this week we have at least one thing going. But we won't stay that busy. And to be honest, I am looking forward to the quiet times with my family the most :)

WOW...Isn't this sketch beautifully done? This is Kazan's 14th sketch for 2 Sketches 4 You and I was just in love with this artistic sketch the minute I saw it!
Here is my take....I feel that this card is very "me"...an eclectic blend of classic and fun with a tad bit of trendy. Not sure exactly what you call that style...but that's me ;)

Supplies: Patterned papers are Jenni Bowlin, Little Yellow Bicycle and unknown scrap??, Journaling tag is Every Jot and Tittle Etsy shop, Ribbon is May Arts, Felt embellishment is American Crafts and the Rub on letters are KI Memories.

Following Kazan's example, here is my list of 5 things I am thankful for:

1. My relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ. I am so thankful that He is in control and not me....His plans are always better than mine....even when I may not think so ;) He is so GOOD!!

2. My family. I love being married to my best friend, and our three children bless me daily! Oh my heart is so full :)

3. My friends. I am so very thankful for the people in my life that make me laugh, offer their support and love and challenge me to be a better person.

4. Health. This is one thing that I take for granted at times, but being healthy is a huge blessing!

5. The holidays!! I love this time of year...spending time with those I love, enjoying family traditions, shopping ;), decorating, and celebrating again the wonder of Immanuel~God with us!

Today is one of those days that I feel so thankful...for good friends, for Starbucks ;) and even for the chilly weather that makes it so fun to stay inside on a play date!

Kristen Swain has created a bonus sketch for 2S4Y. It is gorgeous and I couldn't resist playing along!

Supplies: Collage Press Patterned paper, Creative Impressions twill, WRMK flower, Webster's Pages rub-on, buttons and twine are craft supply.

Last night I put together nine of these little goodie boxes for the kids who are in my KidZone group at church (our Wednesday night kids program). We will be breaking until after the holidays so I wanted to make them each a little something special.

Such a fun, quick project! I hope and pray that each of the kids who will take one home will remember that I think they are very special and so does Jesus!

First up, here's a card that I made for my favorite manufacturer: Daisy Bucket Designs!!
I used their Wondrous World line and the rub on is also DBD!!

I've been wanting to make a card for Laura's sketch #12 (at 2S4Y, of course) all week long!! But I have been trying to be a good girl and go to bed early since I am still getting over whatever it was that I had last week. I usually create late at night when my kids are tucked in their beds :) Well, last night I finally sat down and made a card after my hubs and I got home from a date night! What a fun night...dinner at PF Changs, a little shopping (got my DD's kitchen for her Christmas present) and then home to a quiet house~perfect!

We are....

party poopers :( So bummed...tomorrow my youngest two kiddos and I were going to go to a fun Halloween party at a friend's...well, now I am sick and so is my son. We both feel pretty good but we are contagious. So, we will be staying home and having our own little party instead of sharing our germs in the apple bobbing contest.

So, I will be going to bed early tonight. But before I do, I wanted to share a couple of cards....

Is it too early to be getting excited for Christmas?

This morning my 4 y/o son started humming Jingle Bells...and just like that, I am getting in the mood for Christmas! This time of year has to be my favorite, but much of that is because I love the anticipation of the holidays :) Our trees are so gorgeous right now, but I know it will only be a matter of days until all of their leaves have fallen and they may even have some snow! Until then, I am looking forward to getting my hands on this new Merry Wishes line of Daisy Bucket Designs papers!

Spooky and Sweet....

It's that time of year! This past weekend, we went and bought the kids their costumes and some of my favorite....candy corn! Yum-oh! So, even though I am not a huge fan of Halloween, I am getting in the spirit. I decided that a Halloween card was in order so this is what I came up with for Sketch This....
okay, so it's not THAT spooky....but that's as spooky as I get :)

And, here is the sweet one. It is based on Kazan's sketch at 2S4Y. I've been wanting to use the little wagon chipboard piece from BG for a while and thought it was perfect for this Birthday card for a little boy.

....not creating, just living. I was gone these past two weekends and it seems like I've been trying to catch up ever since. I'm so glad it's almost another weekend! By next Monday, I should be back in to the swing of things.

Almost packed and ready to go!

This weekend I am headed to a women's camp with some ladies from my church. I am so looking forward to coming back spiritually and mentally refreshed!

The last time I attended this particular camp, I took my 5 mo old nursing baby....who is now 4!! Wow. Time goes so quickly.

The biggest bummer about going away this weekend is that I will be gone on my husband's and my 11th anniversary. He promised it was okay, so I decided to go. We really weren't going to have a big celebration anyway, but it still feels a little weird! Last year, for our tenth, we went away for a fun weekend....just the two of us. Ahhh, what a great time :)

This week I haven't had much time for creating but I did make these cards:

Back to the normal routine.

We are finally getting into our new routine around here and it feels GOOD! It's so nice to be familiar with all of our activities so I know what is coming next, and feel organized. I love that about Fall...it really feels like "normal", you know?

Here are a few cards I've made recently:
This one is for the Sketch This blog. I loved all of the creations from all of the designers this week....really beautiful cards and pages!!

These next two cards I made for the Daisy Bucket Designs blog. They are both tri-fold cards. So fun to use....there are so many ways to flip and fold them!

With this one, I simply used the scalloped "flap" on the outside of the card so it opens as a normal card would.

And, this little one I just made for fun...used a few little scraps that I thought looked good together, a "vintage" flower from my Mom's stash :) and some new pretty pink pearls. Thought it would make a nice thank you for a teacher.
don't know why, since the spelling is incorrect ;)

I have been meaning to post this first card since Tuesday...I've been so busy, though, and haven't had a chance to get to it until this morning.

Made this one last night (after we got home from the HS football game). It is based on Kazan's sketch at 2S4Y.

Ah, Fall! I love it....football, crisp weather, wearing sweaters, the back to school excitement, and the spicy smells of pumpkin and cinnamon! I had my first pumpkin spice latte yesterday and it got me in the mood for more pumpkin. I am going to make this SUPER yummy cake to take to our friend's house tonight....mmmm :) If you like pumpkin, you have to try this cake...you will love it!!

I am so glad it's Friday! We made it through the first week of school and I have been looking forward to the long weekend! We don't have much planned, but I intend to enjoy every minute with my family and some friends. I have a couple of cards to share tonight:
This one is up on the Daisy Bucket's blog right now. I did a little tutorial over there on paper piecing. I love the way these papers and the stamps complimented each other!

And here is one I made today during naps :) This is for the 2S4Y blog...another FUN sketch, from Laura.

My little man is going off for his first full day of school tomorrow as a first grader! I made up a little gift for him to take to his teacher. Inside I wrote her a note and then added the little bag of treats for her. Hope she likes tootsie rolls :)

I can't believe Summer is almost over! We are headed out of town this weekend for a wedding. When we get home, we'll only have three days until school starts! I hope I have done enough to prepare my little man for the cold, hard world of first grade ;) Seriously, it is hard to let go... Here is my card for sketch #63 over at Sketch This! I used some flannel fabric that I picked up at Joanne's last weekend. Also used Offray ribbon, We R Memory Keepers flower, Melissa Frances buttons, Webster's Pages PP and Daisy Bucket Designs rub ons.

And this card is based on the CPS sketch of the week. It has been so long since I have done one of their sketches...I couldn't wait to play this week, though! It was a perfect sketch to use a big square of the same flannel. On this card, I also used Daisy Bucket Designs PP and new rub ons!

Cozy

We had a pretty cozy day around our house...or maybe I should say lazy :) My husband stayed home from church this morning with our three kids who are each fighting some sort of bug, or allergy or (in the case of my 6 y/o) getting some new teeth. I think that they finally got dressed around 1pm :) I did take my boys to a Birthday party this afternoon (they seemed to be feeling fine) but other than that we just hung out inside watching the Olympics and playing games. Even though it's no fun to be sick we have still managed to have a fun day together.

I made this LO the other night. It is based on a sketch by the very talented Melanie Blackburn posted over at the Daisy Bucket Designs blog and I couldn't resist playing along.

I used the adorable dot paper from the Perfect Harmony line of DBD papers (reminds me of hubba bubba) and the stripe PP is from the In The Meadow collection.

Summer nights

We are so tired around here! Been staying up way too late watching the Olympics but it's so worth it! My six year old is really getting into the games this year, so it has been fun to watch him, as well! (BTW~he isn't staying up until midnight with us, we record it and then he gets to watch some of the highlights the next morning!) :)

Here are a couple of cards I made with some new SEI goodies while watching gymnastics and swimming:

This one, when I started out, was based on Laura's sketch from 2S4Y...it didn't turn out quite like the sketch so I guess I'll just say it was "inspired" by the sketch.

Finally, here is a card I made for the brand new Daisy Bucket Designs blog!! I used new "Perfect Harmony" papers and their new label stamp! For all of you DBD fans out there...make sure to check out the blog...there are some really fun and inspirational ideas! We just took our family down to the fair last night. It was fun to see the animals, watch a little "dog show", let the kids go for a couple of rides and my favorite...eat an elephant ear! Yum yum! Since both of my cards have little elephants on them, all I could think about was that elephant ear we ate last night...

Here is Janelle's sketch for this week over at Sketch This. What a great sketch! I had so much fun making this little card. I even pulled out my favorite little circle stamps (from SU) that I haven't used in a while.

and, since I had so much fun using my little stamps again, I made another little card with them as well...this one is based on Kazan's sketch over at 2S4Y.

Well, I'm off! My Bible study is calling me and the kids are all down for a late nap this afternoon.

Haha! We are having a super fun visit with Grandma and Grandpa this weekend. We even got to go for a plane ride in my Dad's little plane this afternoon! Okay, so our plane isn't quite as fast as Tom's in Top Gun, but still....we did go pretty fast ;) My boys had a blast!! Hope you are all having a great weekend, too!

The stillness of naptime...

...is here. Ahhh. :) All three of my kids are asleep (swimming really wears them out!) so here I am again with a couple more cards!

I used: Around the block music note paper so I wanted my sentiment to be the title of a song....now I can't get that song out of my head!! I also used a Martha Stewart tag. I almost started clapping/cheering in Walmart when I saw that Martha now has goodies there....the closest Michael's store is 45 min away so I was beside myself, to say the least :) Here's my familial inspiration :) My adorable cutie-patootie niece (third from the left) is visiting. (The other three are mine). Sydney's been with us since Sunday and she will be going home this weekend. We are really going to miss her next week!!

about starting up this little blog to share all of my cards for a while now. Finally took the plunge.

For me, making cards, scrapbook pages, or even something from my kitchen is very relaxing...I just love the whole process. From being inspired, to creating a huge mess in my scrapping corner (or my kitchen), and then being able to share the final product with someone! It's so rewarding and fun!

I hope you enjoy checking in here as much as I love visiting so many of your blogs!
